[Lsubadminton] Back in the Student Recreation Center!

Hey
everyone!

 

After one
year of being in outside practices, we are finally having practice back in the
UREC facility. We, as a club, have played at outside facilities, graciously
donated time from BREC so we can play badminton during the down time of the
UREC Student Recreation Complex.

 

The new
times will be:

Tuesdays: 8:00 – 10:00 PM

Fridays: 6:00 – 8:45 PM

 

Due to new
regulations within the Sports Club Program, our club will now be split into
two.

1.      
Club members will only consist of students: Undergraduate
students, Graduate students, and PhD students. Essentially if you have a
student in your classification you are considered a student. 

2.      
Our second group of members will consist of
faculty, community members, and alumni. The main reason for the division is for
the creation and organization of a student focused sports club group. 

 

Thus, the
times on Tuesday will only be open to the LSU Badminton Club and its members.
If you belong in the second group, you will be welcome to come in during the
community times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Badminton Club rules still
applies during these hours.  For a

Here are
some of the new programs that our club will be offering:

Beginner’s
Class: This program is meant for students who wish to learn the sport,
rules, and general play and will be offered on Tuesdays from 8:00-10:00 PM. 

 
I, Leon Jang, along with a few of our more
experienced members, Peng Loh, Hao-Hsiang “Shane” Chang, and Harris Wong, will
be assisting me in coaching the newer players.

There may be future divisions depending on how
popular this program is. 

Challenge
Courts: We have played with the idea before and will be implemented only on
Fridays. To summarize the rules: games will be to 21, winner of the court will
stay on, and challengers shall provide the first shuttle. For more information
